Is that the sound of clinking glasses? Anyone keen for cheeky red or something sparkling? The Wairarapa region’s iconic food and wine festival Toast Martinborough is back and fresher than a Sauvignon Blanc on a hot summer’s day. In fact, summer is the new time for the annual celebration of Martinborough’s wine industry. The beloved annual event has a new date. Sunday 19 January will be filled with exceptional wines, delicious food, and great music.
The new date brings even better news for Wellingtonians — Monday 20 January is Wellington Anniversary Day, so you get an extra day off to make the most of the weekend. There are a few more surprises for attendees. Along with the shift to summer, Toast Martinborough 2025 boasts new festival hours. Starting at 11am and finishing at 7pm, your leisurely lunch can extend to make the most of the balmy evening. Festivities are also planned on either side of the main event. A programme of events for Friday, Saturday, and Monday will include music, workshops, and plenty of fantastic Wairarapa hospitality.
For this instalment of Toast Martinborough, a picturesque stretch of road between The Runholder and Ata Rangi will be closed to traffic and become a Festival Road. The 2.5 kilometre stretch is easily walkable with a five to ten-minute stroll between each festival site. It’ll join up Poppies Martinborough (the first time it’s been part of Toast) with the other wineries. Those wineries are Ata Rangi, Tirohana Estate, Luna Estate, Moy Hall, Palliser Estate, Te Kairanga, and Martinborough Vineyard.
Tickets to Toast Martinborough 2025 are on sale now.
