Ahead of their next Championship season, Welsh football club Wrexham AFC are heading down under for the first time to play some pre-season games. They’ll be bringing their energy and star quality to Wellington in their only New Zealand match.
The Red Dragons will fly into the pitch at Sky Stadium in July to face off with the Phoenix. They’ll be taking on Melbourne Victory at home, and Sydney FC before crossing the ditch to New Zealand.
Wrexham AFC are a Welsh football club that competes in the English Football League (EFL) Championship. The team has recently secured their third consecutive league promotion. They’re the first ever team to do so in the EFL. Wrexham is recognised as the oldest football club in Wales.
Wrexham — and its hometown — has catapulted to global fame in recent years thanks to the success of the docuseries ‘Welcome to Wrexham’. American actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney spearheaded the series after acquiring the club in 2021. Following years of challenges and a potential closure, the pair wanted to revive the team and the community behind it. Combining the actors’ star power and the club’s heart and history proved a winning formula. The series has won multiple awards, including two Emmy’s. In 2023 Wrexham secured its first league title in 45 years. Season 4 of the series premieres in May 2025.

It doesn’t matter if it’s a festival, big game, concert, or conference – everyone needs some quality kai before attending something at the stadium.
