Four whānau-friendly days to celebrate Christmas in Wellington.

Saturday will be a good time to come into town in the month leading up to Christmas. Wellington City Council is celebrating the summer holiday period with four free events for the family.

Christmas in the Quarters will be in four different parts of the city. It doesn’t matter if you celebrate Christmas or not — there are plenty of things to see and do. The events include Christmas crafts, music, performances, circus acts, ice skating, Santa’s arrival, and carol singing. 

The events will be on Saturday 23 and 30 November, and 7 and 14 December. Festivities are between 11am to 5pm and are free to attend, so there might be crowds and queues.

Christmas events in Wellington

Music at Glover Park

Enjoy Christmas music and performances. There’ll be choirs, hip-hop dance, ukulele playing, and more. Children will have the chance to have their faces painted, and post letters to Santa in Santa’s Letterbox.

Circus at Queens Wharf

Enjoy a Christmas extravaganza. Watch circus acts, fire tricks, and street busking under the sails at Queens Wharf. Children will have the chance to have their faces painted, and post letters to Santa in Santa’s Letterbox.

Santa’s arrival at Waitangi Park

14 December 2024Waitangi Park

Santa will be arriving in a special sleigh to hang out for the day. Waitangi Park will host activities, including ice skating, a snowball globe, a foam pit, live music, and entertainment. A variety of food trucks will also be on site. Stay afterwards for a Christmas carols sing-along at 5pm.
